Mozambique Stats:
In 2019, our Sisters in Brazil were invited by Bishop Hilario da Cruz Massinga to consider opening a mission in Maganja, Mozambique, Africa. Bishop Massinga became aware of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany through his work with Nova Alianca, a ministry group based in Anapolis, Brazil with which the Allegany Franciscans have a long relationship.
On January 1, 2022, our Sisters Maria Abadia da Silva and Euripedes Irias dos Santos departed Brazil for our new mission in Mozambique, Africa.
In early April 2022, Sisters Maria Abadia and Euripedes were joined in Mozambique by Sr. Liliane Araujo Costa.
